چکیده

In vitro micropropagation is already a current multiplication tool for walnut self-rooted cultivars and rootstocks, but grafting still performed in the field or greenhouses, mainly using seedlings as rootstocks. The present work describes new approach to obtain clonal walnut-grafted plants, involving shoot production of ‘Paradox’ (Juglans hindsi × Juglans regia) cl. ’Vlach’, be used rootstock, J. regia cv. ‘Chandler’, scion. After completing phase seven-day root induction treatment, ‘Vlach’ explants are transferred ex conditions expression while being simultaneously grafted produced ‘Chandler’ scions. importance presence leaves on both scion rootstock success rate technique was evaluated. Under optimal conditions, average rates 82% rooting, 72% micrografting survival, 84% plant acclimatization were achieved. This rooting/grafting combination seems able compete with traditional techniques nursery grafting, allowing obtaining high-quality plants independently external weather significantly shorter time.

Effects of Regulated Deficit Irrigation on Walnut (Juglans regia) Grafted on Northern California Black (Juglans hindsii) or Paradox Rootstock

Chandler walnut (Juglans regia cv Chandler) on Northern California Black (Juglans hindsii) and Paradox (Juglans hindsii x Juglans regia) rootstocks were irrigated to achieve two levels of regulated deficit irrigation (RDI) in 2002 thru 2005. The RDI strategy was to maintain high midday stem water potential (MSWP) early in the growing season to favor shoot growth and nut size then gradually decr...

Development and characterization of new microsatellites for walnut (Juglans regia).

The expressed sequence tag (EST) database represents a potentially valuable resource for the development of simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers for use in evolutionary studies. EST-SSRs reveal polymorphisms not only within the source taxon, but in related taxa as well. In this paper, we describe a case study in which the publicly available walnut (Juglans regia) EST database was used to develo...

Lipid analysis of Greek walnut oil (Juglans regia L.).

The walnut oil (Juglans regia L.) total lipids (TL) were extracted by the Bligh-Dyer method and the lipid classes have been isolated by chromatographic techniques and they were analyzed by high performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC)/FID and GC-MS. The oil was found to be rich in neutral lipids (96.9% of total lipids) and low in polar lipids (3.1% of total lipids). The neutral lipid fract...

Inhibitory effect of walnut (Juglans regia L.) husk hydroalcoholic extract on LDL oxidation in Vitro

Introduction: Lipid oxidation, including LDL oxidation, plays a pivotal role in development of atherosclerosis. Supplementing diet with antioxidants, such as vitamin E and walnut husk hydroalcoholic extract, may prevent LDL oxidation. In the present study, we investigated the in vitro effects of walnut husk hydroalcoholic extract on serum LDL oxidation caused by copper sulfate. Method: Blood sa...
